ArchVision has released the RPC Plug-in for 3ds max and Autodesk VIZ w/ support for mental ray. The RPC Plug-in works in conjunction with the mental ray renderer
in either application.
Mental ray users can now render realistic RPC content with several features:
- Seamlessly use either scanline or mental ray rendering
- ACM (ArchVision Content Manager) provides "floating" licenses maximizing your investment
- No new software to learn... just render with mental ray!
The RPC Mental Ray Plug-in for 3ds max and Autodesk VIZ is available
for $219 each or in specially priced 4-node and 8-node render packs.

Note:
RPC Objects interact differently with the Mental Ray renderer than they do with
the default scanline renderer. Please evaluate the demo version of the RPC Plug-in for Mental
Ray to see how it will behave with shadows and lighting before purchasing to ensure
that it meets your specific rendering needs.
Significant Issues
* When rendering in Mental Ray, RPCs will not cast shadows from light sources that do not have an include/exclude option under the modify panel (ie. IES Sky)
* Self-illumination behaves as a brightness control, so it is not possible to change how the RPC interacts with your scene's lighting.
